Dr Chipulwa Machili Braves the Wintry Weather

Cycling 4 Mahecas

Dr Chipulwa Machili, a doctor in Leicester, braved the snow and icey winds on Easter Day to cycle the 80 miles from Narborough in Leicester to Boston in Lincolnshire. Chipulwa cycled via Newark and was very happy to arrive, where of course he received a very warm welcome from our Chair Dr Milika Matiti and family and friends. This fund-raising cycle was to have been the previous day, but the conditions were so bad that day that he had to cycle on Easter Day.

Well Done Chipulwa and thank you very much!

  • If you have sponsored Dr Machili, then please honour your pledges as quickly as possible.

  • If you did not get a chance to sponsor Dr Machili, then please surprise him with a late pledge.
  • Newsflash: Dr Machili raised £501.00. Well done and please do it again next year! (September 2008)

THE WIRRAL WALK 17th May 2008

This year's Wirral Walk attracted more people who had not participated in the previous years. Thanks to Rob Kavannah who publicised the event well. Rob also organised an evening show which involved musicians from the Wirral, Derby and as far as Portsmouth and a poet.

I would like to thank the following who volunteered their time and talents to come and perform free of charge at the evening function, can'tmixwon'tmix DJ Bobby Magee, Pete Raven, Alan Wright & Ali Macauley, MC Albert Khoza (Malawian musician), Lauren Brooks, Gafro, Sir John MandeVille and Dr Lwanda came to read his poems from his book "The Rhino's Lament" and also played Malawians music he has compiled under his label Pamtondo.

The evening event raised £500. I am still collecting money from the walkers and will be published once all the money is in.
