MALAWI HEALTHCARE SUPPORT (UK) DONATES £1,000.00
TO THE NATIONAL DISASTER APPEAL FUND FOR THE KARONGA EARTHQUAKE DISASTER

On 19 January 2010 the UK based charity, Malawi Healthcare Support (MAHECAS UK) donated MK246, 601.00 (equivalent to £1,000.00) to the National Disaster Appeal Fund for the Karonga earthquake victims. The cheque in the said amount was handed over at a ceremony held in Lilongwe, by Dr Charles Mwansambo, the charity's representative in Malawi and was received by the Commissioner, Mrs Lillian Ng'oma on behalf of the people of Karonga.

The members of the charity were deeply saddened by the plight of the men, women and children of Karonga District, and wish to express their sympathy for the victims and their relatives.

In light of this disaster Malawi Healthcare Support (UK) decided to make a contribution towards the effort everyone else is making in trying to bring the lives of the victims to normality, and hopes that the donation, together with the contributions of other donors and the Malawi Government's efforts will help alleviate the suffering of the victims.

Karonga Earthquake-Relief Disco at COMSEC - Friday 5th March 2010

On behalf of the MAHECAS Executive Committee and members of MAHECAS (which is you) thanks to you all very much for supporting this event. We are also very grateful to COMSEC for letting us use their premises. The youngsters couldn’t believe their luck at paying a quid a time for booze.

The event ensured that another £1000 pounds shall be sent to help alleviate the suffering caused by the Karonga disaster.

This money shall be handed to Mrs. Lillian Ng’oma, the Commissioner for Disaster Preparedness (P.S. in Charge of Disaster Issues).

Regards

MAHECAS (UK)
